Did You Know?

In the early days, our ancestors used animal skins stitched into a tubular structure for their "hose needs." By the seventeenth century in the Netherlands, the Wandell Gaidin brothers made a vertical stitched canvas hoses for fire-fighting operations.

Of course, with the invention of vulcanized rubber in 1842, Charles Goodyear (left) revolutionized road travel forever. However, Goodyear became entangled in early patent disputes, which led to this timeless quote:

“Life should not be estimated exclusively by the standard of dollars and cents. I am not disposed to complain that I have planted and others have gathered the fruits. A man has cause for regret only when he sows and no one reaps.”
